Padstow Lifeboat Station

The project pictured here is Padstow lifeboat station. We fabricated and installed the steelwork for the slipway, and all the walkways around the new boathouse.

This project was made more challenging by the fact that all materials had to be taken to the work site by boat, and installed using a crane mounted on a jack-up barge.

The slipway sections are fitted to concrete crosshead on twin steel piles. The installation works were carried out by a combination of our crews and divers, working the tides to gain maximum productivity.

Portsmouth Ferryport Dolphin

The use of larger cross channel ferries by Portsmouth Ferry Port called for an additional mooring dolphin to be installed. We fabricated the top structure in one piece, weighing over 70 tonnes. The structure lifted from the quayside using a 250 tonne crane and was transported by barge to the installation site. Once on site, the structure was lifted onto a pile which had been driven in advance. A walkway was added to connect the dolphin to the shore.
